Attendees:                                                                                                                   Staff:

Paul Ellis (Chair)                                                                                                          Lee Reese

Vicki Niederhofer                                                                                                        Matt Jones

Paul Ellis called the meeting to order at 1:32pm.  Next, with no public comment, the committee reviewed the September 30th, 2020, meeting minutes.  Paul made a motion to approve, it was seconded by Vicki Niederhofer and the minutes were unanimously approved. Next, Matt Jones gave updates on the Apprenticeship Expansion Grant, Disaster Recovery Grant, Service Integration Grant and the activities at the SIUE-East St. louis Higher Education Campus.  He also reported that the Belleville One-Stop is on schedule to move into the new facility at 7650 Magna Drive by March 1st. In closing, Matt reminded the group that the next Mid America Workforce Investment Board (MAWIB) meeting will be held on February 11th @ 8:30AM via Zoom technology.

Next, Paul discussed the Retail and Hospitality Training program at CALC & the need for better promotion of the program.  He also mentioned that he is meeting on annual basis with the Fairview Heights Lodging and Conference group via Zoom and that Matt will present at the next meeting to discuss WIOA services.  Paul gave updates on a variety of economic development projects in Fairview Heights as well as the business incubator, which is scheduled to open virtually in March.  As for the committee, Paul suggested expanding the membership to include a few more MAWIB and/or outside members & discussed bringing it to the full board. Paul presented an updated marketing plan and matrix for discussion, which led to the idea of looking to secure an outside person (or possibly a college intern) to lead an overall marketing effort.  Paul will reach out to SWIC and SIUE to inquire about an intern or student that might need a marketing project.

With no further discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 2:30pm.
